Sending you a hug

Hi everyone So here we are, still in lockdown, I think it's week 5 now but I'm not entirely sure!! So today I've been having a play with my favourite paper.... Rag paper. So rag paper is made up of cotton bulk, it's incredible hard wear and comes in various gsm, sizes and shapes. I chose to buy mine at Fred Aldous as seems by far the best price,  indigo blu also sell it in the form of a journal. Today I've chosen a little zig zag concertina book measuring 7.5 x 7.5cm 210gsm, the pack of 5 cost £2.28. Along with my favourite paper I've used my favourite paints...PaperArtsy fresco paints in limelight,  khaki and aquamarine. When you start using rag paper,  the best thing to do is spritz all over with water do get some moisture into the pile. I then added the 3 colours randomly using a 31/2 inch brush. I feel the booklet needs a front and back to give it some substance so chose some corrugated cardboard,  stripping the top layer partially off. ...

Happy Friday ( is it Friday???) To you all

Image
Hi everyone Well, I have no idea what day it is so I had to look it up 😂 To be fair I think it would be a great time to celebrate Christmas..We all moan we don't have enough time off at Christmas or we have to travel around family..so why not have a 3 week long Christmas? 😂 🌲🌲🌲 Anyway the sun is shining and long may it continue as it's definitely helping keep spirits up, people can exercise and life seems bearable. I haven't even started on box sets yet, too busy crafting , blogging and trying to keep my nhs and keyworker friends peckers up, I feel shit not being able to be there on the front line helping but I guess I can now help in other ways 😊 Ok so today I wanted to share with you the tags I've made using the 6 inch grey board tags from Tando Creative,  distress oxide inks, carabelle design stamps and a dylusions large stencil. I started by stamping the images onto 220gm white card using my stamping platform and versafine Clair in black. I coloure...

A new way of life

Image
So here we are....self isolating or social distancing...Well we didn't see this coming did we!? 😔 So, time to dig deep and breathe, even enjoy just being ourselves in our own spaces. We can catch up on all the little jobs we never get around to ( nope, I'm still not ironing bedding! ), take up new hobbies,  send letters and cards again, get in the garden,  bake.....the list goes on! My biggest worry is feeling trapped from social interaction,  it's only 12 months since I tried to take my own life so I'm always incredibly aware of how quickly I can get low in mood. Each day I'm going to set myself a  little schedule including stretches, fresh air in our little yard, a couple of programmes on britbox then lots of time to craft. I recently got a sewing machine, I'm really rubbish but can only get better with practice,  I have so many new products to try so I thought why not share them with you via my blog and YouTube channel. I like to share ideas for new ...

Five curtain rings

Image
As many of you know I love nothing more than a visit to a car boot, I particularly love to have a ratch through the boxes under the tables where the real bargains are. I was delighted when my new project for the Canvas Corp Brands design team was to repurpose a flea market find. During one of my visits I found a great treasure haul of wooden curtain rings....some people see curtain rings I see mini photo frames. I love altering found items, so many options. On this occasion I decided the 7gypsies Gypsy moments collection would fit perfectly. I started by aging the rings with pebeo gilding wax then sanded back. Some rings I added lace, broken jewellery,  micro beads and basically anything I could find in my stash. I added Gypsy moments pictures from the 8x8 pad, I love this pad as it give a bit of everything from full 8x8 illustration to toppers, photos, sentiments and so much more. I completed the project with some rusty wire as I thought it make a cool bunting of gypsy mome...

Positivity

Image
Sometimes life can have it's down days, for this reason,  particularly during the winter months,  I like to surround myself with positivity. I read positive books, mix with positive people and create as much positivity as possible. This week I have thoroughly enjoyed working on all different projects, some in my journal,  a large tag and a piece of home furnishing in the form of a photo frame upcycle. This journal page focuses on a women's beauty,  most importantly how it shines from within. People spend so long being negative to each other and even when they look in the mirror they see a negative image. Women are beautiful,  all shapes and sizes, colour of skin, sexuality, when they let their beauty shine through from within. I love decorating large tags, they are like a mini canvas. This one is mdf , painted with paperartsy fresco paints then splattered with white gesso. I added gold Guilding wax around the edges. Tattered angels do a fabulous range o...

Pretty floral heart

Image
Good evening Today I have been playing and creating with Canvas corps brands,  particularly the Compose you life and bohemian romance ranges. I started off with an mdf hanging heart which I stripped back then painted the reverse in fresco paint from paperartsy. I then chose an 8x8 paper from the Bohemian romance pad and traced around the heart, I then cut to size. I added a panel of purple burlap,  adding lace to the join. I embellished with buttons, a bow, tag and peg then added raffia to finish the project. The question is who will be the recipient??

Surely Sunday is a crafting day???

Image
Hi It's a horrible wet day here in Carnforth,  Mark is out up some Hill riding his trial bike so I get the day with Ernie in my craft room....bliss. I'm trying to just get some stuff down in my journal,  trying out old and new techniques , using things I've had for a while but never had the time to play. Today I covered a double page I wasn't particularly happy with , I love that about mixed media you can just cover it up! I've been looking at Tim Holtz collage papers in my drawer for a while so thought I'd give them a whirlpool,  I love them, so pretty. I've prepared a page ready for going on holiday tomorrow to save me taking my grunge paste (i already have a small suitcase full 😂) Have a look and see what you think, I love feedback even if 'constructive' 😆😆😆 Hope you all have a lovely Sunday evening Keeeeeeeeeeeep Crafting xxx
